What is happening with the Johns Hopkins Club?

The Johns Hopkins Club is entering a rebuilding phase. While the Club currently does not have a permanent home or full-time events staff, it is working to restore in-person programming, strengthen member engagement, and build long-term sustainability.

What membership options are available?

Members may choose between two paths:

  • Johns Hopkins Club-only Membership
  • Engineers Club Membership Options (via the Johns Hopkins Club Partnership)

Each option offers different benefits and access levels.

Engineers Club initiation fees and membership requirements are separate and governed by Engineers Club policies.

Do I need to pay Johns Hopkins Club dues?

If you were previously a Johns Hopkins Club member and have not enrolled through the Engineers Club partnership, yes — you must select a membership option and resume paying dues in order to remain a member in good standing on the Club’s active roster.

How much are Johns Hopkins Club-only dues?

  • $600 annually, with the default option being billed monthly at $50 per month
  • Monthly billing begins March 31, 2026
  • Payments will be billed automatically each month
  • Option for annual billing.

Is there an initiation fee?

For existing Johns Hopkins Club members:

  • There is no initiation fee for individuals who were listed on the Johns Hopkins Club roster as of December 31, 2025 and who choose to continue their Johns Hopkins Club-only membership.
  • Members who choose not to continue by March 31, 2026 may be subject to an initiation fee if they rejoin in the future.

For new Johns Hopkins Club members:

  • Individuals who have not previously held Johns Hopkins Club membership as of January 1, 2026 and who elect Johns Hopkins Club-only membership will be subject to a $600 initiation fee, in addition to annual dues.

What does Johns Hopkins Club-only membership include?

Johns Hopkins Club-only membership provides:

  • Access to Johns Hopkins Club–branded programs and events, including:

-  The current Virtual Book Club

-  Additional programming as staffing and resources expand

  • Access to the limited reciprocal club relationships maintained independently by the Johns Hopkins Club

This membership does not include:

  • Access to Engineers Club dining or facilities for private use
  • Access to Engineers Club events
  • Access to the Engineers Club reciprocal club network

How will my dues be used?

Membership dues support rebuilding efforts, including:

  • Event programming and community activities
  • Member communications and engagement
  • Hiring a dedicated events coordinator to organize programs, manage registrations, and coordinate shared events — particularly with the Engineers Club
  • Improving the consistency and quality of Club offerings

Where will Johns Hopkins Club events be held?

For the near term, the Engineers Club will serve as the primary gathering location, generously providing meeting space for Hopkins Club members. This partnership is intended as a pathway for the Club to works towards finding its permanent home.

What is the deadline to choose a membership option?

Members will receive a membership statement with a deadline of March 31, 2026.

To remain on the active membership roster on April 1, 2026, you must:

  • Select a membership option
  • Submit your payment by the deadline

Members who do not select a membership option by March 31, 2026 will be removed from the active roster.
